In these uncertain and turbulent times, we must make decisions quickly on the front lines. But to help these actions on the ground, everyone must have a clear idea of what the company is trying to achieve.
The leader, the owner, the manager must :
- Develop and live a business vision that gives #responsibilities. Effective #leadership, at any level, is marked by a basic philosophy (#values) and a vision of how the company (or service) wishes to stand out. Look around the company, work with your #colleagues, work with #customers, work with everyone to develop and install this philosophy and vision.
- Ensure that the vision is immediately (1) precise enough to make a difference (for example, quality is more important than volume) and (2) general enough to keep the possibility of bold initiatives in the environment current in constant change.
- Become the most prominent “traveling preacher” in the vision. Do not leave a single day without taking one or two initiatives to deliver your “3mn speech” on the vision and to highlight the events or people (in the field in priority) which are illustrative or representative of initiatives on the vision.
The process for defining your vision is personal and the essence of the art of leading in times of turmoil. Effective vision is imperative :
- #Inspiring ;
- Clair, presents a #challenge towards the pursuit of #excellence ;
- Gives #sense of the target market and with an emphasis on #flexibility and #execution, lasts over time ;
- Must be #adaptable to the environment ;
- Have the objective of involving teams first and customers second ;
- Prepare for the future but honor the past;
- Live in the # details.
Quite simply, the vision must take priority over the internal regulations or the manual of procedures of the company. The leader can direct the energy of his troops and the rapid taking of initiatives of his teams by a vision and values reactive to the needs of today and tomorrow of his customers !
Day-to-day adaptability and #innovation by everyone can only happen in the company if there is no doubt in the vision and it is exciting.
